Zach's Annual Tourni

Eric and I really enjoyed seeing Zach play in the UVU tourni. Ben came down to see the action as well... and he is an annoying spectator. He gets me riled up and together we can become the opposing team's nightmare. We think it's funny to make noises when the other team is serving. Last year when Joe Hillman was serving, me and Ben made him miss. He flipped us the bird. Way to represent, as a former BYU volleyball player/national champoin! It was funny. This year we didn't ruffle any feathers.... except for a bench warmer that offered to meet Eric outside after the game. hahahaha That was a crack up.

My dad was there and we also got to see Kate, Justin, and their adorable kids. Grandpa, Greg, and Ray even made it to one game. We always have a blast at this tourni and we can't wait for next year's.

Fish Research

This weekend I went with my brother Zach and Eric to help them with their research project. They help Dr. Shiozawa collect brook trout and cuttroat trout. They are studying how the native cutthroat trout is being replaced by the brook trout. They fly fish to do these collections, and sometimes they use an electro-fisher like we did this weekend. We collected 50 brook trout at the Bunker Creek near Panguitch. I had a lot of fun. I was in charge of carrying the eqipment, holding the fish, and keeping count of the fish. Zach, Eric, and I had a blast on this one day adventure. Eric and I signed up for the fly fishing class next semester. We are really excited about that... plus, our T.A. for the class will be ZACH!

It was fun to see the fishing lab where Zach and Eric work. I got to hold and feed there turtle!

My First Hunt

Justin and I both had mule deer tags in the Ruby Mountains near Wells, Nevada. My dad, Nate and Eric came to help us get our deer. It was a lot of hiking, alot of glassing, but it was worth it. Hiking up to the deer, being sneaky, quiet, and setting up to shoot was exciting. Shooting the deer gave me an adrenaline rush. Nate helped me get set up to shoot. Justin was going to back me up if I missed. I missed my first two shots, but the buck didn't go anywhere so Justin didn't have to back me up. Nate put his coat underneath my gun to steady my shot. I got him on the third shot. It was so thrilling... (and I never thought shooting a deer could be fun) Then right after we got my deer, Justin got his on the same ridge but opposite direction of where my buck was. He got a much bigger buck than me. My dad and brothers said my first two shots were practice because I had never shot that gun before. My deer's left antler has a weird horn and is a bit deformed. I think my deer probably got teased growing up. My dad said "It's good for your first buck" haha Thanks for helping me get my first deer Eric, Dad, Justin, and Nate. I had a great time and now Eric and I have a freezer full of meat. :)

This is my deer. Justin's is the 5x3 and mine is the "3x narly"

I Miss My Little Bro.
